Located in the Shimoyama region, an area abundant with nature, is Yamayuri Handmade Workshop. Here you can try making sausages and ham using the best ingredients. There is also a rental barbecue area to grill and eat what you’ve made. Eat your fill of all the tastes of Shimoyama with specialty products such as gohei-mame, famous handmade gelato, and hot dogs wrapped in naan flatbread.
Sausage and Ham Making Workshop
Using fresh ingredients, the sausage making experience is easy and fun (preference given to reservations). From December to April, original ham workshops are also available (reservations required). Kids can enjoy taking part in this hands-on experience, too.
Specialty Ham and Sausage
Mikawa-raised pork, Mongolian rock salt, handmade muscovado brown sugar, meats roasted over a coal fire in Shimoyama; the authentic taste of these fine ingredients is understandably popular. The products sold at Yamayuri Handmade Workshop make for great souvenirs.
Specialty Gelato
The freshly made gelato using locally grown peaches, strawberries, or blueberries is highly popular. Depending on the season, wasabi, Shimoyama rice, fig, and other original flavors also make an appearance.
